ADOPT A STUDENT OR SCHOOL

Above all else, our belief in the educational benefits from one of the world's oldest game of strategy remains the driving force behind the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis. Chess is not just a game of king and queens, but rather a tool that teaches strategic thinking, anticipating consequences, planning and problem solving. As research continues to reveal a direct link between learning chess and higher academic achievement, the CCSCSL prides itself on remaining at the forefront of chess education and providing that impact to each one of its members.

2014 was a banner year for our Scholastic Initiative, with the program hosting more than 1,400 youth classes and reaching thousands of students across the Saint Louis region. We have spilled out of our Central West End campus and are now teaching classes in hundreds of schools and community centers citywide -- and we’re not slowing down. Our plans for 2015 involve pushing our Scholastic Chess Program even wider, translating this heightened enthusiasm for the game into a newfound excitement for learning.

Your generosity makes a direct impact on the lives and education of Saint Louis children, helping them get ahead at an early age by introducing chess' inherent academic benefits. By donating to our Scholastic Chess Program, you are helping an area student receive after-school scholastic programming, providing them with certified instruction, professional curriculum and a set of life skills they will keep forever.

The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that is committed to making chess an important part of our community.
